This workshop presents a cutting-edge, comprehensive, evidence-based approach to concussion. The presenter will cover topics from assessment to treatment including: signs/symptoms, neurocognitive testing, vestibular and ocular motor assessments, neuroimaging, prognosis, risk factors, return to activity, exertion protocols, therapies, and treatments. Particular focus will be placed on the psychologist’s role in implementing emerging active treatments including psychological; physical, vestibular, and physical therapies; and pharmacological. The workshop includes information about special populations, empirical findings, and clinical applications.

Presenter: Anthony P. Kontos, PhD
Dr. Anthony Kontos is Assistant Research Director for the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. His PhD and MS in kinesiology/sport psychology and MA/Internships in counseling psychology are from Michigan State University. He has over 80 professional publications and 135 presentations, and has received funding from the Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, US Special Operations Command, and National Football League Charities His research focuses on neurocognitive, neuromotor, and psychological effects of concussion.
